I feel like I’ve been in an artistic slump for the past two years. The last time I did anything productive was 2005 when I was working fulltime as an artist. Since then I’ve just experienced momentary bursts of energy, but nothing significant, stable or sustained. I’d paint for a week or two, then I’d leave it alone for 6 months or even longer. I’ve missed out on so much practice, but I finally feel the drive to get back into things and improve myself.

Facepainting - not the carnival type. Click to see larger. Forever trying to move away from line-work and focus on lighting and brushwork.

The ultimate geek pleasure - Drawing armoured robots.
My Mac photoshop 30 day trial expired already.
I can’t wait to get back home and buy a the full Adobe Creative Suite. I also spent a whole weekend redesigning my website, then scrapped the whole thing. Sometimes designs are better the second, third or even fourth time around - Such is the process of being an artist.
One day I had the smart idea to go to the top floor of my apartment block and grab a snap.

Pretty sweet huh?
These pics were taken over two random nights after work, walking and exploring Singapore during my first month here. It was amazing just stumbling my way through the shopping centres with no map and discovering all these wonderful spots.

So I left work, the sun was setting and I didn’t feel like going home.

I went to Clarke Quay and there happened to be a fashion show on.

People waiting to board a boat. Funny thing is, I’m not really interested in doing touristy things, but I love taking photos of tourists doing tourist things. They’re in the moment, the holiday magic.
Another night I headed to a different area of Singapore. I randomly broke off from the crowd into a quiet corridor that led me to the inside of their concert hall/opera house.

This guy was singing, he sounded like Michael Buble - amazing. It was so chilled out, I could’ve sat there all night.
After feeling my way through this building I kept going up more escalators and found what felt like a hidden rooftop cove at the top of the building. Some amazing views - what I’d been searching for the past few nights.

Chatting.

City love.

Ah the Merlion.
And finally -
Home.
